# Handmade insoles: true craftsmanship, made to measure

> Insoles still truly made by hand, built from thin cork – not milled or 3D-printed. Clients from all over the Netherlands and Germany.

Canonical: https://www.podologiebenerink.nl/en/handmade-insoles/

More and more insoles are milled by machine or 3D-printed from a scan. At Podologie Benerink we still make every insole by hand – layer by layer, and adjusted during fitting until it is exactly right. That is why clients come to our practices in Twente from all over the Netherlands and from Germany.

#### Why handmade?
- **Thin and light:** we build the insole from thin cork elements, so it is as thin as possible and also fits shoes for which a milled insole is too thick.
- **Adjusted during fitting:** an insole built by hand can be adjusted on the spot during fitting, to the millimetre.
- **Made for your shoes:** the insole is adapted as much as possible to the shoes you like to wear – from sneakers and heels to work shoes, rubber boots and even clogs.
- **Craftsmanship since 1998:** Wim Benerink started out as a shoemaker and has been a registered podiatrist since 1998. He passes this craft on to his daughters Willeke (registered podiatrist) and Elke.

#### How we make your insoles
1. **Consultation and examination** – we discuss your complaints and examine your feet, posture and gait.
2. **Imprint** – we take an imprint of your feet to record their shape and pressure points.
3. **Built by hand** – the insole is built up layer by layer from cork and other materials where needed.
4. **Grinding and finishing** – we grind the insole to fit your shoe and finish it with a top cover in the colour of your choice.
5. **Fitting and follow-up** – we fit and fine-tune the insole; a follow-up check within 6 months is included.

#### For which complaints?
Handmade insoles help with complaints caused by foot posture or loading, such as [heel spur](/en/foot-complaints/plantar-fasciitis/), [flat feet](/en/foot-complaints/flat-feet/), [high arches](/en/foot-complaints/high-arches/), [forefoot pain](/en/foot-complaints/forefoot-pain/), [hallux valgus](/en/foot-complaints/hallux-valgus/) and [knee pain](/en/foot-complaints/knee-pain/). We also make [children’s insoles](/en/foot-complaints/childrens-feet/) and certified work insoles. See the [overview of foot complaints](/en/foot-complaints/).

#### Coming from further away? Also from Germany
We welcome clients from all over the Netherlands and from Germany, specifically for handmade insoles. Our practices in [Oldenzaal](/en/locations/oldenzaal/), [Denekamp](/en/locations/denekamp/) and [Losser](/en/locations/losser/) are in Twente, close to the German border and the A1 motorway. Travelling from far? [Contact us](/en/contact/) and we will schedule your appointments so that you have to travel as little as possible.

A first pair costs € 230 (children € 220), including consultation and follow-up. In the Netherlands, insoles from a registered podiatrist are often (partly) reimbursed – see [cost and insurance](/en/cost-and-insurance/).
